Effective 2026-08-01
Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the Wiped app (hereby referred to as the "Application") for mobile devices that was created by Wiped (hereby referred to as the "Service Provider") as a Freemium service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".
Wiped helps you discover personal information that may already be publicly available about you on data-broker sites, people-search sites, breach databases, and the open web. Depending on your plan, the Application may also support removal workflows related to those findings.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
When you use the Application, you may choose to provide details we use to search for public exposures about you, including:
- Name (first, middle, and last)
- Email address
- Date of birth
- City and country
You can update your profile details later in the Application. We do not ask you to upload photos, grant GPS/location permission, or enter a phone number. Scan results may still show phone numbers, addresses, relatives, or similar details that third-party sources already associate with you.
Device and account identifiers
The Application creates an anonymous device identifier on first launch and stores it on your device. That identifier is used to authenticate your session, associate your profile and scan history with your install, and link subscription status. There is no separate email/password or social login account today.
Automatically collected information
When you open or use the Application, we may collect technical information such as:
- IP address and approximate location derived from your IP address
- Platform (iOS, Android, or web), OS version, and device model
- App version, timezone, and locale
- Usage events within the Application (screens viewed, funnel steps, and similar product analytics)
Approximate IP-based location may be used to prefill country, improve scan matching, and support product operations. It is not precise GPS location.
Scan results and derived data
To run a scan, we may send relevant details you provided (such as name, location, email, and date of birth) to third-party search, data, and processing services that help us find and organize public exposures. We may store the resulting report and related metadata needed to show your results in the Application.
Subscription information
If you purchase a subscription, Apple, Google, and our billing partners process payment. We receive subscription status, product identifiers, entitlement state, and related billing events so we can unlock paid features. We do not receive your full payment card number.
How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Run exposure scans and show you what may already be findable about you
- Personalize in-app results based on your profile
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Application, including debugging and reliability monitoring
- Process subscriptions and manage entitlements
- Analyze product usage so we can understand and improve the experience
- Contact you about the Service when needed, such as support responses or important notices, using the email address you provide
- Protect the Service, investigate abuse or fraud, and comply with law
We do not sell your personal information. Your scan inputs are used to search public and partner sources on your behalf, not to build a marketing list for sale to data brokers.
Third-Party Services
The Application relies on third-party services that process information on our behalf or as independent controllers of their own systems. These may include cloud infrastructure and data storage, product analytics, payments and paywalls, search and data enrichment, AI or automated processing used to organize public findings, and app-platform providers.
Links to privacy policies for certain platform and billing partners are below:
- Expo (app platform)
- RevenueCat (subscriptions)
- Superwall (paywalls)
- Apple / Google (app distribution and in-app purchases)
Scan queries may also contact publicly available websites and search indexes. Those sites have their own privacy practices. We may also use operational tooling that can include limited identifiers such as a device ID, approximate location, or scan subject name so we can monitor reliability and abuse.
Disclosure of Information
We may disclose user-provided and automatically collected information when required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
We may also share information with service providers that help us operate the Application, subject to appropriate confidentiality and data processing terms, and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets if that ever occurs.
Data Retention
We retain profile data, scan subjects, scan results, device metadata, and subscription records for as long as needed to provide the Application and for a reasonable period afterward for security, backups, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.
If you would like us to delete the personal data associated with your install, contact customer support and include enough detail for us to locate your account (for example, the device/user ID shown in Settings, if available). We will delete or de-identify personal data we control, except where we must retain limited records for legal, security, or accounting reasons.
Children
The Application is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information processed through the Application, including encrypted transport and access controls on our backend systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices
- You can choose which personal details to enter; some fields are required to start a scan.
- You can update profile information in the Application where that feature is available.
- You can request deletion of your data through customer support.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings.
- You can stop using the Application and uninstall it at any time. Uninstalling alone may not delete server-side records; use the deletion request above if you want those removed.
International Processing
We and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Those countries may have data-protection laws that differ from the laws in your jurisdiction.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the effective date above. Your continued use of the Application after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
This Privacy Policy is effective as of 2026-08-01.
